Audio Files At Johnny's Music Rolls
By Mark Forer

Hi, MMDers: Here's a recap of an item I posted on Facebook regarding
the new audio files at Johnny's Music Rolls.

Those of you who have perused these occasional postings for many
months will be pleased to note that "Johnny" Motto-Ros (proprietor of
Johnny's Music Rolls) has just added to his ever-increasing inventory
of ultra-rare style "A" and "G" coin piano roll recuts 24 (count them
-- 24!) MIDI files of some of the hottest tunes in his repertoire.
Over one hour of _hot_ blues, one-steps, fox trots and rags are all
featured, made possible by dedicated collectors who have lent Johnny
their rolls over the years for recutting so that others might enjoy
them too.

Happily, these sound files are not truncated. Johnny has provided
_full-length_ sound files so that you can listen to them at your
leisure without the annoyance commonly found on other sites whereby the
listener is "teased" by the music only to be cut-off in midstream and
left wanting more! At Johnny's you will find samplings of some of the
greatest tunes ever perforated onto paper.  Some of tunes you'll know;
some you'll wish you knew while others will be entirely new to you.

These sound files will enable you to compare the unique piano
stylings of the folks working their magic at Capitol Roll & Record Co.,
who were competing for the public's listening pleasure with the good
people over at Clark and Automatic! Here you will discover the
infectious sounds of nickelodeon music at its finest, each tune packed
with that particular punch, unique "controlled musical tension" and the
ear-tickling ebb-and-flow sound that only automatic piano music is
capable of producing!

Built into many of the blues tunes is that element of Southside Chicago
"danger" and wicked fun manifesting itself in numbers like "Close Fit
Blues" (Clark A-938, "Biff Bang Blues") and "Sweet Smelling Mamma"
("Bluishness, Clark A-324). Do you like the Coon-Sanders Nighthawk
Orchestra? Hop on over to roll A-1461 which is a "special" roll
devoted to many tunes the band recorded. Or if you want to hear some
swell Columbia jazz, check out "Tee Pee Blues" on A-1690.

There are xylophone rolls represented on other rolls, too, such as
Automatic A-1486, "Select Mexican Hits," which is guaranteed to turn
your house into a border town cantina dive -- muy pronto! -- with tunes
like "Ramón Novarro, Marcha"!

Enjoy these sound files as often as you like. Discover new tunes.
Revisit old favorites. No longer will many of these numbers continue
to be represented by poor-quality low-resolution sheet music images
or scratchy sounding 78 rpm sound bytes. Many of these blues tunes
-- lively curiosities such as "Turquoise" and super rarities like
"Jealous Mama Blues" (Clark A-1174, "Indigo Blues") -- can only be
heard on A-Rolls, they are that rare. But you can hear them now, free
of charge, Johnny's!

It is Johnny's goal to re-ignite interest in the automatic piano
hobby by offering only the best-of-the-best material, and in doing so
answering those who state that there is nothing new "out there" to
listen too! Of course, to fully appreciate the full listening pleasure
of this music, you'll have to hear it on your Seeburg, Coinola or
Cremona automatic piano. If you don't own one of these instruments yet,
you owe it to yourself to snap one up and "tune in" to the ultimate
stereophonic hi-fi "time-travel" listening experience!

Thanks for listening!
