Dear MMDs, The next auction of antique toys, technology and mechanical
music in Cologne, Germany, takes place on 26 May at 10:00 a.m.
The mechanical music segment numbers around 200 lots and includes
instruments of many types and most budgets: cylinder and disc musical
boxes, musical clocks and watches, pneumatic instruments, mechanical
singing birds, gramophones, phonographs, automata, musical novelties,
spares and discs. A few of the highlights include:
- a rare 22-3/4-inch Sirion 'disc-shifting' musical box,
- a fine silver-gilt and enamel singing bird box by Bruguier,
- a Chordephon disc-operated zither,
- a beautiful Bacigalupo barrel organ with unusual British repertoire,
- 'Buffalo Bill' smoking automaton by Vichy,
- two early coin-operated automata.
Viewing is at the gallery on 25th May and the morning of the sale.
