Hello, I have a 5-foot Art-Apollo grand for sale, red mahogany,
with single legs and an Art-Apollo system, in original condition.
The serial number of the piano is 23079. I have not found a date
on this piano, however in my shop right now I have two uprights
which are 22394 and 22463. Both have plate dates from 1918 and
action dates that are early 1919, right at the transition between
Melville Clark and Wurlitzer. One is a regular 88-note piano
and the other is an Art-Apollo. Both have Melville Clark valves.
I suspect that piano number 23079 could have been "on the drawing
board" before the 1919 take over of Wurlitzer, but it was probably
built in the very early days of Wurlitzer operation. The player
system has every feature of the earlier Melville Clark pianos.
The tuning pins are loose, but it is all there and has never been
"worked on" and could easily be restored. I have $500 invested in
owning it and moving it a couple of times. Make me an offer and it
is yours. Pictures available on request.
Thanks,
Jere DeBacker - Jere's Player Piano Co.
