I am considering installing the VirtualRoll system onto my reproducing
piano, a Marshall & Wendell 5'4" rebuilt approximately 25 to 30 years
ago. The cloth, hoses, and pneumatics are in good shape. I had a
technician familiar with player pianos look at it recently. It needs
a little maintenance but nothing major. The piano itself plays well
and I like the sound. It holds its tuning.
Has anyone installed VirtualRoll in their piano? What am I getting
into? I will have to work from underneath since I can't put the piano
on its side. About how long will it take? I will be working on it in
my spare time in the evenings and weekends. I'm mechanically inclined
and comfortable with tools.
I've read about a couple other systems but they are no longer available.
If there is another system worth investigating, please let me know.
Any words of wisdom are appreciated.
