I am researching the life and music of Adrian Rollini, who became
famous as the creator of the bass saxophone style in jazz and, in
Bix Beiderbecke's band, made some of his finest records in 1927.
He was born in 1904, studied piano since he was 3 and in 1920/1921
played several piano rolls for the Republic, DeLuxe and MelOdee labels.
It was Mike Montgomery who made the first Rollini rollography back in
1975. Mike's work was continued by Frank Himpsl and with his help
I have now the music of 26 of Rollini's rolls and, in many cases, the
rolls themselves. I am heavily indebted to both gentlemen.
For my Rollini biography I would now like to hear the missing rolls
and I hope that readers of this Digest can help me further. Here are
those missing rolls. All I need is a MIDI file or mp3 file and a
photocopy of the label.
Republic rolls:
45218 Beautiful Stars Above
50626 Pretty Kitty Kelly
52726 It's The Way You Do It
52826 Oh Gee! Say Gee!
55928 Dolly I Love You
57328 Isle Of Paradise
58028 In The Heart Of Dear Old Italy
DeLuxe rolls:
Y6059 Singin' The Blues
Also
Republic 48918 Yo San (This roll is played by J. Milton Delcamp
and Adam Carroll, but it might be identical to Rollini's DeLuxe B6014,
Yo San, and I would like to check this.)
