On June 9 (Saturday), 2012, the Philadelphia Chapter of the
American Guild of Organists (AGO) is sponsoring Philadelphia Organ
Day at the Kimmel Center, with a full afternoon (noon to 7) of
performances on the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ in Verizon Hall
( http://www.kimmelcenter.org/facilities/organ/ ). There will be
additional activities (particularly kid- and family-friendly) in the
Kimmel Center atrium space adjacent the hall.
Among many of those entertaining 'distractions', it occurred to me
that it would be fun to have a little crank organ or band organ there
to add to the glamour and color. Michael Barone, host of the APM
national program "Pipedreams," is looking for a mechanical music
enthusiast who has a small crank organ to be part of a seminar at
the AGO event.
If anyone in the Philadelphia area is interested, please contact me
and we can go from there. On that day most of the enthusiasts in the
Philadelphia area will be at Knoebels Amusement Park for a COAA organ
rally, so it may be difficult to find someone.
Thanks,
Angelo Rulli - President, Carousel Organ Assoc. of America
