Newly Arranged Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ Rolls
By Glenn Thomas
Three superb new Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ Rolls have just been
released. All were arranged by Rich Olsen blending his historic
Wurlitzer-period-style arranging with just enough distinctive personal
flair. The result is exciting music that is highly recommended for
anyone with a machine capable of playing these rolls.
Roll 6851 contains a mixture of mostly well known traditional and more
recent music that never made it to this scale, such as "Give My Regards
to Broadway" and "Flight of the Bumblebee"'.
Roll 6852, originally issued in the 150 scale but now gratefully
enhanced and expanded for the 165, has a country music flavor, but
contains mostly familiar one-steps and two-steps with tunes like "9 to 5"
and "Ring of Fire". Two tunes played on my Wurlitzer 165/166 band organ
can be heard on the YouTube "Wurlitzer 166" channel here:

Roll 6853, also originally issued in the 150 scale, has a 1950s-'60s
rock feel with wonderful familiar tunes like "Rock Around the Clock"
and "The Loco-Motion". Two selections from my organ can also be heard
on YouTube "Wurlitzer 166" channel here:

My only interest in these and other Wur 165 rolls is enhancing and
expanding as much Wurlitzer 165 band organ music available for the
enjoyment of all. We are fortunate to have the arranging talents of
Rich Olsen and the continued high quality production capability of
Play-Rite Music Rolls.
