Concert Grand with Stahnke LX system
By Dave Saul

Yesterday my wife Anne and I, along with several other piano and music
roll buffs, were fortunate enough to be invited to the home of piano
expert Randy Cox in Anaheim, CA. Pianos and rolls were heard and
talked about, but the afternoon's high point came when Randy's Kawai
concert grand began to play. We found ourselves hearing a fine
instrument, fitted with the Stahnke LX system, performing as well as,
if not better than, the best pneumatic reproducing piano we had ever
heard. And we've heard many examples of the very best.

Although I am in the business of making and selling reproducing piano
rolls, I must retreat from my long-held opinion that electronic pianos
were best suited for driving music lovers from hotel lobbies. The LX
system really works. I would encourage all piano buffs to become
familiar with that system. I don't expect that electronic pianos will
ever totally replace the pneumatic reproducing pianos that many of us
have grown to love so dearly, but the LX deserves a lot of credit.
Wayne Stahnke has done an outstanding job in bringing the reproducing
piano into the 21st Century without losing the magic.
