Greetings all -- I have a client's Criterion 15.5" music box which
was long ago converted to coin operation, at which time presumably
the original manual start controls were removed and discarded. The
current owner is now saying they it changed back to manual operation
per original.
I have repaired two of this model before, many years ago and
unfortunately did not photograph the pertinent parts in those days.
In this bedplate, the original slot for the start/stop lever is
present, but empty. Does anyone out there have one of these machines,
who would be willing to take some photos so I can see the arrangement
of the parts I now need to make from scratch? Access for the needed
pictures would only require removal of the front interior horizontal
wood panel which is typically attached with three to five slotted-head
wood screws, and the panel will lift straight up and out of the way.
I can make up a functional and reliable start control but for the
sake of historical accuracy I would much prefer to copy the original
setup as closely as possible without having the actual parts in hand
to copy. If anyone can help I would be most grateful. Please reply
directly to my email address, musicboxer@windstream.net.geentrope
(remove the anti-spam suffix ".geentrope".
