Gentlemen, I have a copy of the Piano Roll Box Label software and
have been making replacement labels for the Ampico collection as needed
(or as desired). There are several different box styles and sizes and
a slew of label styles. The software gives one ample chance to create
a correct label but it seems evident that the label would vary as the
Ampico organization wished. For example, a roll recorded in the 'teens
but produced in the 'twenties would be issued in a 'twenties style box
and label.
Surely someone knows when the various styles became current. Some of
my collection has arrived in wrong boxes, and I have spares. Without
being too curatorial, I'd prefer to use a correct style box and label
if possible. I also have a quantity of recuts by various manufacturers,
which normally are labeled only on one end, and some of which (like QRS)
are really ugly. For these, I'd like to produce correct labels
(crediting the recutter) to install on the other end.
