Lösche "Swanee Whistle" Orchestrion
By Robbie Rhodes

At http://www.mmdigest.com/Pictures/loesche1.html is a photo and
a short description by Tim Trager of an orchestrion with a slide
whistle built by the Paul Lösche Orchestionwerke of Leipzig. Tim
writes, "Like the Popper, when turned on by a perforation the slide
whistle follows the highest note on the roll, which is usually
a melody-line note."

The pneumatic logic unit that selects the top note of the melody
is visible at the upper left in the photo.
