I am rebuilding a player made by Weber, London. There is a round
logo cast into the plate that says "The Orchestrelle Company".
A paper label on the pumpers says "Themodist". On the bellows
unit are many patent numbers in paper.
I have not found a serial number anywhere. It is a 50-inch, 85-note
upright, missing the top three treble notes. The player appears to
originally have played all 85 notes but someone has plugged the top
three, making it an 82-note unit.
Has anyone encountered one of these? Was the player action made
in London also?
Its most notable feature so far is that the tuning pins are smaller
than 1/0, measuring about 0.255 inch. It seems a very good quality
instrument, good scale, very nice ivory and ebony keys, solidly built
player unit.
