MMDers, Reading Leão Leibovich's post [120117 MMDigest] has inspired
me to go ahead and make this announcement, though we won't be in
production until mid-February. Back in October, 2011, Short Mountain
Music acquired Ed Schmidt's roll cutting/making operation. Since then
we have been modifying the punching machine, which is very well made
and very adaptable, for a multitude of different formats. We are also
updating a redesigning the software.
While Ed is selling off his old stock, we will be cutting the rolls
which he has sold out, offering compilations of old titles and adding
some new titles and arrangements. In the near future we plan to be
re-cutting Wilcox & White, Aeolian, 47- and 58-note rolls, provided
there is interest. However, some formats, like Autophone and
PianoLodeon, may be dropped as they are either labor intensive to
make and/or there is a lack of demand. I am personally very excited
about this project.
We will be re-cutting Celestina/Mandolina rolls first, followed by
the 14-note Melodia, Clarion, and McTammany. The web site for the
roll business is http://www.popmusicrolls.com/
Please check the catalog often, as there will be frequent listing
changes and additions. Any suggestions for compilations and new
tunes are always appreciated.
