For those who enjoy completeness, I have found one of the QRS rolls
missing from the Billings Rollography. It is QRS 3567, "Be A Friend
To Man", a ballad played by the composer Karl C. Robertson.
This is undoubtedly the same Karl C. Robertson who wrote "Wounded Lion
Rag" in 1911. Both compositions were published by Robertson Publishing
Company, Kansas City, Missouri, for "Wounded Lion" and Des Moines, Iowa,
for QRS 3567. The copyright record for "Be A Friend To Man" shows the
lyrics were written by Claude O. Robertson.
It would be interesting to know what prompted QRS to issue this
self-played, self-composed ballad. It has a typical QRS signature
stamp for Karl C. Robertson along with a standard box label showing
a 3-26 issue date and $1.00 price indication. He apparently made no
other rolls for QRS.
Has anyone found any of the other "missing" rolls, such as QRS 3153,
3481 or 3505?
