B&B Carousel at Coney Island "Steeplechase Plaza"
By T. J. Fisher
I just read an article about the B&B Carousell, which ran in Coney
Island for years until 2005 and is now being restored in anticipation
of a 2013 reopening. That article can be found here:
http://origin.ny1.com/content/top_stories/150531/ny1-exclusive--historic-carousel-is-jewel-of-new-coney-island-park
The article makes no mention of the Gebrüder Bruder Elite Apollo organ
that operated with the carousel at the time of its closure. Will the band
organ remain with the carousel? I'm not hopeful, considering that the
city now owns the carousel and is responsible for the new installation,
but I'd be glad to be surprised.
Maybe if I hear that the city will retain the organ, I'll feel hopeful
enough to wonder whether the carousel will continue to use its ring
machine.
