Meaning of "Brevete"
By Nicholas Simons

Matthew Caulfield's recent posting about the confusion over the
correct meaning of the word Breveté reminds me of the amusing tale
of the musical box made by the firms of 'Etouffoirs en Acier' and
'Soit a Spiraux'. As many will know, these descriptions appear on
many tune sheets on cylinder musical boxes.

Just a few weeks ago some Ariston music discs appeared on eBay
attributed to 'Brevete' as the manufacturer.
