65-note Rolls
By Judy Welkley

I have a Cremona Nickelodeon made by Marquette Piano Co. which came
from my father's collection. I also got the A-rolls to play on this
machine. However I have discovered that there are at least two rolls
by Clark that are marked "A 65 note" and they do not play properly.
The holes seem to be smaller and do not line up as they should when
going over the tracker bar. Is there someplace on the piano to adjust
for this or do they just not play on the 88-note player?

My Dad had all the rolls separated and marked as to which instruments
they played on, and the A-rolls were all designated for the nickelodeon
and the calliope. Both of these rolls are Christmas songs, so I am
very disappointed to not be able to play them.

Thanks for any thoughts or comments on this.

[ 65-note rolls (holes spaced 6-per-inch) will not play on 88-note
[ instruments (holes spaced 9-per-inch). Early player pianos used
[ 65-note rolls, until the 1908 Buffalo Convention made 88-note piano
  [ rolls the industry standard.
