The traditional auction of mechanical music and automata will take
place in Chartres (one hour from Paris, France) on Sunday, December 4,
2011. Approximately 260 items are for sale.
About 30 good automata: by Lambert, an exceptional Turkish smoker; by
Roullet Decamps, a Mexican zither player, a teacher and his student, a
clown and his dog; by Renou, a magician clown; by Vichy, a fisherman of
St. Jacques shell; and from an unknown maker, a rope dancer with three
musicians.
Many items in mechanical music, among them: several portable barrel
organs (Uniflute by Gavioli; Gasparini 26 keys; Gavioli Meloton 26
keys); two fairground organs (Limonaire Freres 49 keys; Gasparini 52
keys); various musical boxes (table disc boxes by Kalliope and Stella;
upright disc box by Lochmann; cylinder boxes by Paillard and Billon-
Haller, each with 6 cylinders; cylinder box by Rebicek with 2 airs; and
a bells-in-sight by PVF); an Aeolian Grand orchestrelle; many musical
novelties; over 30 lots of fairground parts.
Also twenty slot machines, one by Caille with music "The Reliable"; a
very large collection of cylinder and disc phonographs (50 items);
related books, documentation, etc.
