I note earlier this year there were postings about B. H. Abrahams and
the company's manufacture of disc musical boxes. I thought readers may
be interested in the following. I have the following manufactured by
B. H. Abraham:
1. A table top 11-3/4" disc musical box, which plays very well. The
casting is numbered 1258. No transfers have survived.
2. An 'Alexandra' smoking cabinet 9" disc musical box, which was in a
sorry state and I am still working on it. The casting is numbered 4231
and the cabinet registry number is 270 354. Transfers on the outside
of the doors: Britannia on the left door, in poor condition, and Royal
Coat of Arms on the right door, nearly complete.
3. A clockwork gramophone, 'The Britanniaphone Grandconcert BHA London'
on the diaphragm, very basic, solid oak cabinet. The sound comes out
through the cabinet, no external metal horn. The brake is on the
outside of the rim of the turntable.
4. A gothic shaped mantle clock with 'BHA London The Renown Great
Britain - British Manufacture' on the movement brass back plate.
Does any one have lists of the disc titles and numbers or a source of
reproduction transfers?
I would be interested in any comments on the above.
