Hi MMD, On the MMD of 11.11.15 John McClelland asked how many
individuals are scanning music media in its various forms. I'll add
another one to the list. About three years ago Bill Klinger from
Flippin, Arkansas, and I scanned eleven crates of Bruder book music,
something over 70 songs. The scanner was manufactured by Bill Klinger.
This scanning was not a quick process. It took us three weekends,
with Bill driving up to central Missouri each time. Bill would then
take the scans home and do his magic. Once the songs were MIDI-fied
Bill would email them to me and I would download them onto the small
laptop I had purchased for this purpose. Previously we had MIDI-fied
the Bruder fair organ and with the scans we were then able to play the
beautifully arranged Bruder music without the inconvenience of the
disintegrating books.
For a couple years I have enjoyed the Bruder music as I had downloaded
it onto my original 3-rank player pipe organ. Since then I have united
this original organ with a 2-manual 3-rank Wangerin organ, giving me
a total of 6 ranks and over 450 pipes. See the article in the last
AMICA Bulletin, Sept/Oct 2011. Since then I have incorporated a
Pianocorder into the system.
Tom Lear from California is rearranging the Bruder fair organ songs
so they will play simultaneously on the pipe organ and the Pianocorder.
In addition, his arranging enables all of the toys in the organ chamber
to play. To say that I'm pleased with the sound I get from this system
would be an understatement!
