Building a Pneumatic One-way Valve for Duo-Art
By Bernt Damm

Hello! A few things here:

1) To my knowledge, the hammer rail is used for the "Soft" [switch]
position and the keyframe action shift is used for the tracker hole
for soft. You could (should?) re-tube it to work that way.

2) The Level 2 Accomp. actuation was (according to the old manuals)
used to "compensate for lost motion" while the hammer rail is up.
It is not needed at all when the keyboard shifts as there is no
variation in the piano action requiring this. You should again tube
this to operate with the hammer rail.

3) The Level 2 Accomp. actuation is not present on all pianos and it
also varies from piano to piano. I have seen this actuating nothing,
Level 1, 2 and even 3 (1+2 with a double pallet valve). I have found
the best results are often obtained with it disconnected. I am not
sure what Aeolian's criteria was for determining if and at what level
this was needed.

So if you want to tube it as per original, it should not require
a one-way valve at all.

Best regards,
Bernt Damm
