Value of Leabarjan Roll Perforator
By Steve Bentley

There are about seven models of Leabarjan and the price should vary
according to which model. From my Leabarjan manual I quote:-

Style 3. "Mentor" model -- basic.
Style 3A. "Mentor" model with stand.
Style 5. Professional model; this also might have a metal stand.
Style 8, 8A, 8B. Industrial Model perforator and reproducer.
8-B is furnished with a frame to hold 12 blank paper rolls.

I made a perforator based on the Leabarjan designs with improvements.
The basic improvement I made was the time scale advance mechanism. The
Leabarjan used a notch/groove device to advance the punch. This system
takes forever and a day to make a roll, and is limited to that length
of time scale.

I devised a crank with a threaded shaft, with the time scale pointer,
to advance the punch. Most times I have to make a longer time scale to
suit the Tempo and/or to compensate the paper speed for "10-tune"
nickelodeon rolls, so I have at least 30 time scales made.

By disengaging a half nut on the threaded shaft, the punch and saddle
can be returned to begin the next measure of music.
