Hi All, Craig Brougher has written a comprehensive review about Bob
Hunt's VirtualRoll (http://www.virtualroll.com/) MIDI e-valve system.
The article is located at
http://www.player-care.com/virtual-roll-player.html
In the article, Craig addresses quite a number of technical aspects of
the system which separate it from previous e-valve interfaces. He has
also supplied a few pictures of completed installations, including an
Ampico upright and grand and a Duo-Art grand. As Craig puts it,
VirtualRoll "is the quintessential Cadillac of electronic
interfaces..."
For those who are not aware, the system works in conjunction with all
regular and reproducing player mechanisms, and allows the user to play
their pneumatic unit via MIDI files on a computer. As most of you are
probably aware, thousands upon thousands of hours have been spent
scanning multiple thousands of music rolls and a huge number of them
are available in the MIDI format.
I think you will find this article interesting and informative.
Musically,
John A Tuttle
