My wife and I have purchased a Violano from Bev Sharp in West Vancouver,
British Columbia, and this instrument has been beautifully restored by
Terry Haughawout. Thank you, Terry, for a super job! Further, we have
purchased the Mills Digital Violano Player system. The purchase of
that system allows us 12 albums of music which are excellent, but it
also allows us to download a number of the original tunes that were on
Violano rolls. Since there about more than 5,000 tunes, if one were to
spend a minute on each one listening to the sample, more than 80 hours
would be required to decide which ones were desired. Since this is
impractical, one is left with listening selectively to tunes thought
possibly to be of interest based mostly upon looking at the titles.
However, this is guesswork to a considerable degree and no doubt many
good tunes would be missed.
The above leads me to my question: For those of you with Violanos,
which are the tunes from the original rolls that you especially enjoy?
If you could please share the titles of those you like the best, we
would then check them out to be sure that we are not missing some nice
pieces.
Thanks very much for your efforts here!
