Hi All, Let me add my comments to those who have already affirmed
that MMD is doing just fine as it is -- exceptionally fine, in fact.
The only possible benefit to adding a forum might be an opportunity for
a quicker reply, and that would only apply to those who are newcomers
to the group.
If I have a problem or comment that 'requires' an immediately reply,
I can send an e-mail to any one of a dozen people who have displayed
an interest or knowledge on that particular subject. Anything else can
wait a day or two for an answer through the normal MMD cycle.
I belong to a clock forum and way over half the replies are something
like 'Wow, that's a nice clock,' or 'Thanks for posting the photo,' or
'You're welcome'. I delete them all.
[ I do the same when editing MMDigest. -- Robbie
In an effort to base my opinion on factual data, I read through most
of the messages on the Pianola Forum. Most of the categories had only
three or four items listed in the last year. One exception was the
'for sale' category -- certainly not time urgent -- and that had less
than 20 items. Most important, I found not one item that couldn't have
waited a day or two for a reply.
So I'll second (or third or whatever) the call and say, "If it ain't
broke, don't fix it!" Robbie and Jody and Matt have plenty to do as
it is, so let's say a big "Thank you" and not start finding ways to
give them even more work and add to everyone's inbox clutter.
By the way, if someone can't live without a forum type system, feel
free to go on Yahoo Groups and set one up yourself. It's free.
Regards from western New York. You people in the Southwest can take
back this heat any time now!
