For sale: Hofbauer style 40er accordion, like new condition, with
four cartridges containing about 60 selections including many Strauss
waltzes and other European selections. The operator dons the accordion
with shoulder straps, turns on the cartridge, and opens and squeezes
the instrument to provide the air for the music. It is very realistic.
Hofbauer no longer makes this instrument but does sell more music
cartridges for it. It was purchased new from an American dealer about
15 years ago and never played. The instrument is battery-operated and
a battery charger is included. The unit seems to have a lot of playing
time before a charge is necessary. Full instructions are included.
It would be an interesting project to find a blower and create a fully
functional accordion that did not need a human for playing it. The
purchase price was $5,900 and I'm offering it for a friend who would
like $2,400. It can be seen 40 miles northeast of New York City.
