Band Organ Electric Power in a Parade
By Dean T. Smith

Hi, MMDers. I also have a Tangley CA-43 that I have played
approximately 200 times over the last 13 years I have owned it.
When I got it in 1997, used, the Honda 2000W generator was 10 years
old at the time and I used that until 2006 when I bought an _inverter_
generator.

I got a good deal on a Robin Subaru 3000W that is very quiet. Once
when I had a fuel problem I borrowed a "suitcase" 2000w from a friend
and it was just powerful enough for the instrument. That parade was
during the day so I did not need to power the lights that I have for
decoration.

The Subaru 3000W gives me all the power I need and then some. The fuel
problem was that I had sprayed the generator, after washing, and the
water seal around the gas tank cap had split and some water got into
the gas and it stopped playing just minutes before starting the parade.
I now have a second, standby generator in the trailer, just in case.
The parade it quit on was the Veterans Day Parade last year in Atlanta,
the second largest Veterans Day Parade in the country.

Loss of power will no longer be a problem. 2000W generators are
available at Home Depot and Sam's Club for $500 and are worth every
cent. I use the standby unit for many other reasons.

Good luck,
Dean Smith
