Claud Cavnar asks:
"I have two different arrangements of QRS roll #7654, 'Pennsylvania
Polka,' both labeled as being played by J. L. Cook. Does anybody
know whether he actually played both versions?"
If I remember correctly there are several versions of 7654. Lacking
other evidence, it would be a good bet to assume that the prolific Mr.
Cook arranged all of them, regardless of the names to whom the
arrangements might be credited. He didn't actually play any of them,
but used the QRS arranging piano.
From what I can tell, some standard tunes got a new arrangement from
time to time and were re-issued under the old number, presumably
because someone at QRS felt a new arrangement was needed. Some
arrangements are far better for dancing than others.
