Building a Self-Playing Banjo
By Didier Borny

Hello, I would like to build a MIDI-operated mechanical banjo.
I seen some at Ragtime West but unfortunately they're priced way
too high for my wallet, so I am planning to build one myself.

I'm looking forward to any useful addresses or links to buy a MIDI
controller, solenoids, string pluckers, etc. Any do-it-yourself
plans for a mechanical banjo is also welcome.

Thanks for the help.

Didier Borny

[ Thoughts: (a) Could a harpsichord plucking mechanism be adapted?
 [ (b) Wouldn't a pneumatic bellows be faster than a solenoid?
