Dear MMDs, The traditional auction of mechanical music and automatas
will take place in Chartres (1 hour from Paris, France) on Sunday, May
29th, 2011. Ca. 240 items are for sale:
About 40 good automatas and some singing birds in cage or tabatières,
by Bontems, Decamps (Mexican zither player), Phalibois (grandmother
knitting and watching her two grandchildren fishing, monkey organ
orchestra), Renou, Vichy (fisherman of St. Jacques shell), etc.
Many items in mechanical music, amidst them:
- One 'Uniflute' portable barrel organ by Gavioli;
- Two Dutch street organs: a large 48-notes and a small 33-notes from
Adrie Vergeer of Gouda;
- Several serinettes and organettes: Sonatina 16 notes, Celestina, Mignon;
- Two black forest clocks, one with an organ, one with a carillon;
- Many various musical boxes (disc or cylinder) and a beautiful automaton
musical picture clock;
- Many musical novelties (albums, tiles, etc.);
- A very large collection of cylinder and disc phonographs (100 items);
- Related books, documentation, etc.
