Milhous Collection at Auction, February, 2012
By Jody Kravitz

The "Events" page of RM Auctions ( http://www.rmauctions.com/events.cfm )
now lists an upcoming auction in February 2012:
   The Milhous Collection
   The Milhous Museum
   Boca Raton, Florida

Following the clickable link, one gets to:
     http://www.rmauctions.com/milhous-collection.cfm
which is the "home page" for the auction. There are links to Facebook
(active) YouTube (not yet active), and LiveBid, leading me to expect
that some of the bidding will be via online bidding.

The most important link on that page is
    http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/a155956a
which will take you a 16 page abbreviated auction catalog with quite
a bit more information and many impressive photographs. The photos
can be magnified by clicking on them. The 16 page catalog can also
be downloaded as a PDF file.

Here's some information paraphrased by Robbie from the auction catalog:

RM Auctions, of Ontario, Canada, in association with Sotheby's art
auction house, will offer the Milhous Collection at auction February,
2012, in Boca Raton, Florida, where the collection has resided for
the past 15 years -- an extraordinary space created by Bob and Paul
Milhous to showcase their collection in style and comfort.

Highlighted by the worlds most desirable and exceptional fair and
dance organs, the group of mechanical musical instruments in the
Milhous Collection is among the worlds finest. Orchestrions such as
the Welte Wotan, Weber Maesto, Hupfeld Super Pan and Helios Style
II-25 are well known to enthusiasts and are beautifully presented, from
the intricate facades to the extraordinarily complex instrumentation.

The mechanical musical instruments will comprise the largest sale of
major orchestrion pieces ever offered, featuring what are truly the
best of the best examples extant, handpicked as the finest, most
desirable and rarest pieces in the world.
