This second in the 2011 series of Bonhams mechanical music auctions
offers a wide selection at Knowle: early wireless, vintage telephones,
coin-operated machines, pneumatic instruments, phonographs, gramophones,
singing birds, and the ever-important cylinder and disc boxes. The
contents are now on view for everybody to enjoy.
The Knowle sales provide an excellent chance for members, newcomers and
friends to meet up. There are usually new faces who walk through the
door, some of whom have never been to a mechanical music sale. Alan
Pratt, Kegan Harrison, and I look forward to these sales as much as our
regular clients do.
The sale will be starting at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 17th, with viewing
starting today. Please check the website for full catalogue and time
listings: http://www.bonhams.com/EUR/sale/19310/1/ Mechanical music
listings start at lot 120.
This is the first Knowle sale to offer live online bidding, in addition
to room bidding, telephone bidding, and commission bidding. This
feature will help greatly those who live far away and will be offered
on all sales from now on. The next two sales in November are being
built now, with some already very interesting entries.
