Hi all, In 2007 I bought a (manual) Star perforator for 88-note
paper rolls. Unlike the Leabarjan, this perforator has 88 punches
(plus one for the sustain pedal).
I published some photos in "Musiques Mécaniques Vivantes" No. 76,
October 2010. ("Musiques Mécaniques Vivantes" is the beautiful
magazine of the French association A.A.I.M.M.)
I wrote a software program which calculates the location of punches
and the number of steps from a MIDI file. The main window displays
large punching instructions. Another window shows a picture of the
roll (with some possibilities of editing).
To facilitate the perforation job, I added an index wheel on the feed
roller of the perforator. I send to MMD a screen view of the software
and a photo of the perforator with my index wheel visible on the right.
The perforating of a roll remains tedious, but the result is clean.
I didn't attempt to perforate simultaneously two or three rolls in one
operation. May I risk damaging or excessive wearing of the perforator
if I do that? Or risk other problems, like bad results or incorrect
paper feeding?
