Ampico A Music Plays Too Slow
By Bob Hodge

When I first opened up the governor unit on my Stoddard-Ampico piano,
I found that the cellulose nitrate Tempo slide plate had disintegrated
into a sticky mess. Unfortunately, I can't remember which plate it
used, but the replacement was brass. PPCo has two different plates
available for the Ampico, the part numbers are 1885 and 1850.

The regulator had been previously rebuilt and was in generally good
condition with the exception of the cellulose plate. A replacement
plate from PPCo and the usual cleaning and graphiting, as prescribed
in Art Reblitz's excellent book, took care of it. I also replaced the
gaskets and felts in the body of the unit, also recommended by Art.

Can you tell I think his manual is first class? Pick it up!
