Hi, All. Am in need of a 88-Note Simplex player transmission. Would
prefer one from the late 'teens or early 1920's. Someone futzed with
the one we have got on a player that we are restoring and it has gears
ground down and bent arbors. Help, help, help -- save me recreating
this beast on the lathe and mill. Thanks, everybody!
And while I've got your attention, is there anybody out there who has
an unrestored, un-gotten-into player piano in oak, made by The Cable
Company/Chicago, that they are will to sell? (My eight-year-old is
just ready to start with Dad on such an animal; these are among the
simplest for a kid to start on and learn from).
I had a previously (botched) restored Cable, the ding-dong who worked
on it glued the pneumatics with Elmer's glue and _no_ newspaper. Lots
of nuts and bolts and screws were salvaged, the rest is "ditch
material", as we say here in Missouri.
Again, thanks,
Karl Schröder
