For those who think miracles never happen... We purchased music for
our Ruth organ when we were on the Germany/Holland Convention trip in
2007, mailed it from Holland, and never got it. We called, wrote, and
badgered both the Netherlands Royal Post and the U.S. Postal Service,
to no avail. We even sent our congressman copies of all the invoices,
as he asked us to do. That led nowhere. We tried to get into the USPS
storage unit in New Jersey, but that was another dead end -- no one
gets in there. We mailed copies of the invoices several times to both
locations.
The insurance we purchased for the packages would not pay off since we
didn't have a return address in Holland, so nothing there. The post
office in Holland told us to put our own home address if we didn't have
a Holland address. Oh, well, another piece of good advice?
Well, this morning we got a call from our local post office to let
us know they had three packages there, two green suitcases and one box.
Apparently they had been there for a month and were due to be returned.
Why they had never been delivered is an unanswered question for those
smarter than us. They were all clearly marked with our name and
address. It would have been four years in July since they were mailed.
Where were they all that time? Who knows. At least they are here now,
safe and sound.
That's my "feel good" story for the day.
