Shipping a Player Piano From USA to Australia
By Stephen Powell

About 5 years ago, I shipped a 5'8" Ampico from Solvang, California,
to Wellington, New Zealand. It cost US$2000 all up, including crating.
There was no mention of the ivories; all of the documentation just said
"piano"! The entire process went very smoothly. I don't recall the
name of the shipping company but I could look it up.

Last year, someone else in New Zealand imported an Ampico grand and
they did go through all of the official channels in terms of disclosing
the ivory. I think they regretted it -- it took many months and a lot
of hassle to get the piano here.
