Help with Newer Player Mechanism
By Eliyahu Shahar
I've never attempted to repair/restore a newer mechanism, but
I received a few of the plastic valves in a set of tools and supplies
that I bought on eBay several years ago. I simply could not figure
out how one would go about restoring one of those valves if they had
to, other than to have the frame recast so that it could be screwed
together and gasketed.
Is anyone experienced in restoring the plastic valves?
It seemed to me that they had left their long-standing tradition of
making it to last and replaced it with the modern throw-away culture.

[ As I see it ("in my opinion") old player pianos and old automobiles
[ which were sold originally for their utility are preserved today
[ because of nostalgia. In contrast, new player pianos and cars that
[ look like antiques are built and sold solely for nostalgia; they're
[ not designed to be maintained for their utility. -- Editor (Robbie)
