Wurlitzer APP Rolls with Registration for Bells
By Don Teach
I am hesitant to chime in on the "Wurlitzer rolls with bells" issue.
But as a general rule of thumb (there are always exceptions) changer
rolls from about 1700 and up have bell registers. In the next series
numbers 0300 to 0350 had bells. Somewhere around 0350 Wurlitzer
stopped cutting changer rolls and Ralph Tussing started cutting the
rolls.
Those Tussing rolls are way different from previous rolls, with shorter
tunes considered by some collectors as not very musical. Machines with
xylophone playing the same notes as the bells are generally Wurlitzer
LX models such as the Nethercutt machine.
There are some great musical rolls in Wurlitzer-cut rolls, but you have
to listen and judge for yourself. Not everyone likes the same music.
