MBSI Exhibit at Orlando Science Center, Florida
By Wayne Myers

The "World of Mechanical Music" exhibit at the Orlando Science Center,
Florida, came to an end on Sunday, January 9, 2011, after a successful
run of eight weeks. Over 9,000 people visited; of those more than
5,000 visitors took a docent tour of the instruments which ranged from
a mechanical bird cage to a Wurlitzer 150 Military Band Organ.

The 45 instruments that were on loan from members of the Southeast
Chapter of MBSI are now back with the owners. The props, which
included large sepia street scenes from the early 1900s, are in
storage awaiting another venue. The Southeast MBSI Chapter will be
addressing this at its spring meeting in May and will report to
National on our recommendations. If anyone has a suggestions for
future exhibits, please post your comments.

The public at large is now more aware of our hobby and several new
members have already joined MBSI as a result.
