I have to say I feel a little funny writing this paragraph on my
good friend, Bob Streicher. (Relax, he's okay!) But I suppose
I would feel even worse not writing it, so here goes.
Bob called me up the other day and said business is really bad for
him. Sending jobs overseas has not only made the tool-and-die making
business go down, but his workshop -- with countless tools that you
didn't know even existed -- has also gone down in value dramatically.
I am sure that everybody who has ever done business with Bob will
agree that there is no one nicer, or more knowledgeable, in making
parts for player pianos. I tried to loan him money, but he won't
accept it.
The purpose of me writing this is to say that if you need anything
made for a piano or any other machine, let Bob do the work. He needs
it, since he is in his 70's and living alone. Don't tell him that
I wrote an article about him in MMD.
