Seek Photos of Hathaway & Bowers, AIG, Etc.
By Dave Bowers

I am immersed in a couple of writing projects. If anyone has
any high-resolution color pictures they would care to share with me,
I would be grateful. These relate to my own history in the field of
automatic music. These could include:

- Pictures of any receptions held for MBSI and AMICA at my businesses
in California, visits to the home I used to have in California, etc.

- Any interior pictures of Hathaway & Bowers, Inc., circa 1967 to
early 1970s, especially any that include people (Terry or me), also
Bonnie Tekstra.

- Any pictures of American International Galleries, Irvine, Calif.,
1970s to early 1980s, Bonnie Tekstra and me.

- Any pictures of the Mekanisk Musik Museum in the 1970s, at first
in Gavno Slot (Gavno Castle) in Naestved, Denmark, then quickly to
Vesterbrogade 150 in downtown Copenhagen. Unfortunately, my large
archive of slides was damaged by water. Owned by Claes Friberg and me.

- Any pictures of me at conventions, meetings, etc.

I have written an article, "The Violin Players", which Rosanna
Harris is laying out for the next MBSI "Mechanical Music". I am
creating several articles, more of a reminiscence nature (as requested)
for Terry Smythe for the AMICA "Bulletin". Terry S. has helped me in
depth with some technical graphics matters (not involving music), and
these articles are a thank you.

On other fronts, Terry Hathaway has spent much of the past year
analyzing early records of Eugene deKleist, North Tonawanda, New
York, supplier to Wurlitzer until January 1, 1909, when Wurlitzer
took over the plant and operated it for its own account.

Some truly marvelous finds have been made regarding early
Wurlitzer/deKleist Tonophones, Pianinos, and the like, plus a lot
of later Wurlitzer stuff about all automatic instruments. Matthew
Caulfield, Art Reblitz, and I have been helping with proofing during
the past year. Terry advises me that all of this will be eventually
posted on Art Reblitz's (with Terry Hathaway) Mechanical Music Press
web site -- which should be a boon to all.

Best wishes to all,

Dave Bowers
