Bonhams announces a sale of fine clocks, watches and mechanical music
to be held in New York, December 7th, 2010. Some real rarities are
included, such as both models of the Regina library table disc music
box (drum and writing desk) in the Rockwood and polychrome-painted
finishes, a Sidar Brigadier penny-shoot disc box, a fabulous full
orchestral and double singing bird interchangeable cylinder music box
on stand, two singing bird jumper musical automatons and many, many
more key pieces to bring your collections into line with the museums
you visit.
The star of the show is a fabulous musical automaton bracket clock,
by Mason, London. The movement has a rack of carillon bells, and the
automaton scene is breath-taking. A shepherd walks in his green fields,
followed by sheep, and then his sheepdog appears from behind a tree to
round them up, whilst a waterfall tops up the countryside stream. The
case is the finest Asian tortoiseshell, architecturally presented as
one of the rarest complete and working timepieces made by this obscure
London maker.
The catalog is available to view right now on the Bonhams web site:
