I live not that far from Atlanta in the Murphy, North Carolina, area.
I have my grandfather's old 88-note pumper that he bought new in the
very early 1920s. I had it rebuilt about 10 years ago; the rebuilder
did a lot of things right but was not able to get it in usable condition.
The player works fairly well, though the vacuum on one note is always
on, keeping that note from playing at all.
The main problem is the piano action -- it needs work. All the hammers
and several stems were replaced but the alignment is incorrect on
several hammers. I later had the action rebuilt with all new bushings.
It is better, but still unplayable.
So, I was wondering if there is a technician in my area that could
either fix these issues or might even replace the action. The piano
is important to me for sentimental value, so I don't want to replace it
with a different one. I would prefer to have it fixed in my house, as
moving these heavy things is a real pain as well as not very good for
them.
I have several thousand dollars in this piano and it would be nice if
it could be played.
Thanks,
Dan Inglima
