Greetings again to all! In response to the latest interest and
demand for the "Ching Chong" title on piano rolls (sold), I wish to
add that as I had possessed several versions of this song on piano roll
over time, Joyce Bright's Connorized 20502 re-cut was at the top of
the heap both in quality of re-cut and preservation of the original
arrangement, which was a great one.
Her re-cut (did) and still does come with a lyrics sheet, something
not on the original roll. If she ever re-cuts this roll, it will be
a great one to get.
While I am on the subject of rolls from Joyce Bright, I will have
to say that her roll of "Brasillian Maple Leaf" (a marimba orchestral
sounding version of this famous Joplin rag) is a roll to behold indeed!
The editor of this fine Digest is to credit for bringing out such a
roll, which turns any player into a super orchestral arrangement that
gives "Marimba" on a piano a whole new meaning and outlook. You need
to get this one if it ever comes around again.
I am parting out rolls now, but this one will remain as long as my
player has the vacuum to play it (and it is truly an aerobic workout).
If you have ever heard a collegiate marimba orchestra, and love the
interwoven sounds coming from one of them, you will love this roll.
Thank you Robbie & Joyce!
Dave Haibach
