It's time to thin the herd, I have too many pianos. This very rare
65/88-note 1909 A. B. Chase Artistano 6'3" grand foot pump player piano
is up for sale. The bench is included, although probably it's not the
original.
This piano has had the entire pneumatic system rebuilt and the string,
pins, soundboard, and plate done recently. It has the original ivory
keys and are in almost perfect condition with the only exception being
a small chip in the center key top from flapping roll tab.
The case is in very nice original condition with the lid being the
only exception, as it has had the clear coat refinished. The piano has
a wonderful rich tone, and a powerful deep bass. The player does play,
but it takes a lot of effort. The previous owner had a suction box
attached in order to make it play.
This piano was featured at the International AMICA Convention in Los
Angeles Ca in 2008. The plate has been signed by Hi Babit after he
played it (by hand) for a while. I got the player to work pretty good
then, but does not play that well now, as it may have a leak somewhere.
The pneumatic system in this instrument is quite complicated and needs
an expert to get it playing to it's full potential. There are only a
few of this model (65/88-note) still in existence. Located in Southern
California (Hesperia). Please telephone for an appointment, or I can
email photos. No texts!
