This extends to leaky garages and worse of all, garden sheds. I have
seen more player pianos stored in these environments, and totally
destroyed, than I care to count. There seems an almost complete lack
of knowledge with piano owners, of correct storage including artificial
climate control for precious instruments (present company excepted).
As some of these machines are of intrinsic historical and monetary
value, it astounds me to find something like an Ampico grand reproducer,
in a garden shed?! Using these places to store a piano is wrong in any
climate.
Just an aside to this thread, as Bill Chapman's warning brought this to
mind.
