My goodness, I never imagined there would be such a controversy
over the Player Piano Company sign! The sign is part of the building
for now, but I fully expect that it will be removed at some point.
Having seen that sign many times since 1984, viewing it once again
was like seeing an old friend. It was very comforting to me.
I am somewhat puzzled by the assertions that the sign must be
removed immediately in order to prevent vandalism. Vandalism can
occur anywhere, but it doesn't seem to be a big problem around PPCo's
location. The building is not isolated, it is part of Wichita's Old
Town district, an area that has been and continues to be renovated:

I am looking forward to see what role the Player Piano Company building
will play in Old Town's future.
I'm surprised that no one asked about the location of the Player
Piano Parts Inc. warehouse, because that's the one that made me
nervous to visit. As a woman traveling alone, I kept all my car
doors locked while driving there. I only got out a short time to
take photos but first had to wait until another car with leering men
passed by. I couldn't get out of that area fast enough.
