I have a Farrand upright piano with a single-tier Bush & Lane player
action. As I am finding out, there is very little information
available about these.
When I first saw this one, I believed that it would be a fairly
straight-forward restoration, while saving the client some cash due to
the smaller amount of cloth used in the action. But these actions were
put together in a way that they were not meant to be taken apart, at
least as regards the bellows and their reservoirs. Add the fact that
the pneumatics are so small, and labor is where the costs go back up.
I am close to finishing this piano; however, any information regarding
these types of players would be greatly appreciated.
