Ragtime Automated Music MIDI Problem

I am trying to convert a Ragtime "O" roll piano to MIDI operation
using a UM0 board supplied by them and running a program called Octet,
also supplied by Ragtime Automated Music.  I'm having trouble getting
a computer to talk to the UM0 board.  Does anyone have any experience
in this area and is able to help?  I would be most appreciative.
